Facial puffiness resolved.

Fluid accumulates in the soft tissues and the face reads heavy — worst on waking, easing through the day. Sometimes lifestyle, sometimes systemic. The pathway begins with why, not with what.

What it is

Fluid where it shouldn't be.

Facial puffiness is a condition in which fluid accumulates in the soft tissues, causing the face to appear swollen or heavy.

It may be temporary — poor sleep, salt intake, alcohol — or associated with an underlying internal factor. In some cases, persistent puffiness is a sign of a systemic medical condition and needs investigation, not treatment.

Persistent one-sided swelling, pain or warmth are not cosmetic concerns. They're clinical signs.
How it shows up

What patients notice.

The signs are subtle — the pattern is what matters.

01

A feeling of skin tightness

The face feels stretched — usually more pronounced on waking or after long flights.

02

Swelling that changes through the day

Puffiness that peaks in the morning and eases by afternoon suggests a lifestyle driver.

03

Indentation after gentle pressure

A brief pit after light pressure indicates fluid retention rather than fat volume.

04

Heaviness under the eyes

Fluid accumulates in the periorbital area where tissue is thinnest.

05

Rings, watches or shoes feel tight

Puffiness in the face often occurs alongside puffiness elsewhere — a systemic hint.

06

Symptoms worse after salt or alcohol

A clear dietary correlation is the strongest sign of a lifestyle-driven cause.

Types & drivers

Why the fluid collects.

Puffiness has many drivers — identifying which changes the pathway entirely.

#TypeWhat's happeningPathway
01Lifestyle driven.Sleep debt, salt, alcohol, dehydration or sedentary hours.Habit change
02Lymphatic sluggishness.The lymphatic system isn't clearing fluid efficiently — usually addressable.Drainage
03Allergic reaction.Response to a food, medication or environmental trigger.Allergist referral
04Hormonal cycle.Cyclical fluid retention linked to menstrual, thyroid or endocrine factors.Endocrinology
05Systemic condition.Kidney, cardiac or hepatic function driving fluid retention.Medical referral
Diagnostics-first

We ask why before what.

Facial puffiness is a symptom, not a diagnosis. The consultation identifies the cause before any treatment is offered.

Treatment pathways

How we treat it.

Cause-driven. Lifestyle adjustments come first; drainage and support are layered on when needed.

Book a consultation

Begin with the cause.

A specialist takes a full history, examines the pattern of swelling, and — if a systemic cause is suspected — refers you appropriately before any cosmetic treatment.
