What it is

Melanin, uneven. Tone, restored.

Pigmentation is a change in skin colour caused by uneven melanin distribution, excessive melanin production, or reduced melanin production in specific areas.

It is often associated with sun exposure, inflammation or hormonal change. The pathway depends entirely on what type of pigmentation is present.

"Every dark spot has a story. The treatment plan works only if we identify the story first."
How it shows up

Signs patients actually describe.

The wording changes but the pattern is consistent. Each of these is a clinical signal we listen for during a consultation.

01

“Dark spots on the skin”

Dark spots on the skin. Recorded during the diagnostic assessment and mapped to a matching pathway.

02

“Marks caused by acne or skin injuries”

Marks caused by acne or skin injuries. Recorded during the diagnostic assessment and mapped to a matching pathway.

06

“It feels different, even before it looks different.”

It feels different, even before it looks different.. Recorded during the diagnostic assessment and mapped to a matching pathway.

Why it happens

Five drivers to consider.

It is rarely one thing. The pathway follows whichever driver is most active.

TypeClinical nameWhat it looks likePathway
01Solar lentigines.Sun-driven dark spots that appear over time in exposed areas — cheeks, temples, hands.Light-based
02Melasma / hormonal pigmentation.Hormonally-influenced patchy pigmentation, often on the cheeks and forehead.Careful protocol
03Post-inflammatory pigmentation.Marks left behind after acne, eczema or skin trauma.Peels + PRP
04Ephelides (freckles).Genetically-driven small pigmented spots, usually familial and photo-active.Photoprotection
05Depigmentation patches.Areas of lost pigment from vitiligo or post-inflammatory hypopigmentation.Specialist review
Diagnostics first

Type the pigment, then treat.

Every pigmentation case begins with imaging to identify the type. The wrong protocol on the wrong type of pigment can make it worse — the right one clears it.

How we treat

Pathways, matched.

One aim: address the driver, not just the surface. The lead protocol works from within; supporting pathways deepen or extend the result.
